    The Dead Rabbits Riot
    The Dead Rabbits Riot was a riot between the gangs the Bowery Boys and the Dead Rabbits. The Bowery Boys were strongly anti-immigrant and the Dead Rabbits were a gang comprised of Irish immigrants. Both gangs wished to control a place called paradise square, this lead to two days of fighting that is called the Dead Rabbits Riot. The fighting was stopped my the New York State Militia.

    This group is a white supremacist hate group formed in 1866 as a result of the civil war and abolishment of slavery. In 1882 the supreme court decided it was unconstitutional with the case Unites States vs Harris, unfortunately it was revived in the 20th century.

Men lined up and as and waited until the lands were open once they were open people raced each other to find and claim their own land. It was estimated that there were 50,000 people at the event.

    The ford motor company was founded by Henry Ford. While it was a motor company it is most known for creating the assembly line. This line allowed parts to be made on their own instead of the whole car being built at once. This made cars more affordable, created new jobs and pretty much created the middle class.

    Ida Tarbell was a journalist who wrote about standard oil. She documented their unfair business practices and their monopoly over the market. After her work was released it caused the Supreme Court to evaluate Standard Oil and found them in violation of the Sherman Act, causing Standard Oil to split into many smaller companies.

    The 16th amendment gave congress the ability to tax income. They had tried it in the past but it took until 1909 for them to gain this power. At first the taxes where much more limited than they are today however this amendment did still affect the economy in many ways.

    Angel island was a very similar immigration island to Ellis Island. It was located in California and mainly processed immigrants heading to the western US, especially those coming from Asia.

This lead to many elections not representing the American people and gave more power to big companies. The 17th amendment allowed citizens to vote directly for their senators and allowed the us to be a more direct democracy.

    It was constructed due to a worldwide desire to create the tallest building ever. Even though the great depression started during its construction it was completed in hopes of creating more jobs. The building held the title of worlds tallest building until 1971.
