The Handy Man lived from 1.5 to 2 million years ago. They roamed in Africa. This species mixed ape and human walked on two feet and four feet tall, and the brain was two times bigger than Lucy’s brain. They used rocks for chopping; sharp stones for cutting, animal bones as digging sticks. They lived in groups and had a longer life spend. They would have a longer live spend because they could protect each other from harm. -

Taller than all other, at 5 feet tall, this species: jaw stuck out, had a rounded forehead, a ridge over the eyes and strong bones. They had stone hand axes and used fire as tools. Other facts include: they were the first to migrate out of Africa, were good walkers, used fire to cook, ate more meat and built huts with animal skin. The use of fire was critical for light heat and to cook. -
