    Australopithecus Afarensis Southern Ape
    Lucy lived 3-4 million years ago. She was found in Africa near the Afar Triangle. She was about 3 feet tall with a mix of human and ape, long arms and big head. Also her forehead and jaw stuck out. No tools have been found( but that does not mean there is none!). The southern ape were able to carry items in their hands while walking so they can protect the item while traveling. They could also use their hands for defense unlike other animals that must retreat.

    The Homo Habilis lived 1.5 to 3 million years ago at Africa. The Handy Man are a mix of ape and human that walked on two feet. They are taller than Lucy by a foot growing to about 4 feet tall. The Homo Habilis' brain were about 2 times the size of Lucy's brain. The tools that they used were rocks and sharp stones for cutting and bones as digging stones so they can bury thier items. The Homo Habilis were the first to make tools and live in groups. this gave them more protection.

    The Homo Erectus lived1.8 million years ago to 2000 B.C in Java, an island in Asia and Europe. They're taller and thinner than the other hominids, some over 5 ft. tall. They had strong bones,round/smooth forehead. The Handy Man had brow ridges, thicker skulls, larger brains, stuck out jaws, and walked upright. The Homo Erectus made the stone hand ax. They were good walkers so they could migrate out of Africa. The Upright Man learned to use fire to cook food so they could eat more meat.

    The Homo Sapien Neanderthalensis lived 230,000 to 30,000 yers ago at Neander Valley, Germany.They had thick bones, large brains, height of about 5 feet, a shorter and stockier brow ridge, but they were stronger than modern humans. the Wise Man made more than 60 different types of tools such as knives, scrapers, and spear points. The Neanderthals were the first to hunt as groups: bury their dead. This showed that they had some sense to work together. They lived with humans for about 10,000 years.

    The Homo Sapien Sapiens lived 35,000 to 12,000 B.C. in Africa, but eventually migrated aroud the world. They have high rounded skulls, large brains, small teeth. and stockier bones. They could build many tools such as attaching blades to other tools, engrave and sculpt using crafted tools, create needles, sow, build tools out of stone and earth and, make the atlatl and other hunting tools. The hominid had capabilities like hunting from distances, and paint on caves to express themselves.
