    Canadian citizen Ian Hacking was born 18 February 1936 in Vancouver. He has undergraduate degrees from the University of British Columbia a Bachelors in Mathematics and Physics obtained in 1956 and from the University of Cambridge a Bachelors in Moral Sciences Part IIB, 1st class, 1958 .He took his MA and PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1962.

    Career

    Ian Hacking has had a great career teaching at the collegiate level and obtained many notable titles. Some note worthy mentions are in 1980 he became the Chair of Stanford's Department of Philosophy. He was appointed University Professor at the University of Toronto in 1991. In 2000 he was elected to the College de France, where he held the Chair of Philosophy and History of Scientific Concepts. In addition he has published many note worthy books.
  • Hackings Contribution to Science

    Hackings work focuses on the contemporary investigations of nature and of ourselves. He focused on Epistemology and Philosophy of the mind. His work has led to the introduction and elaboration of new conceptual structures; distinctive ways of understanding the possibilities and growth of knowledge; and new understandings of the relation between thought, language, and cognition. For his notable work he received the 2014 Balzan Prize.
