The furthest Michael can remember was when he was walking down the highway with his brothers. They were looking for shelter because they were locked out again.

Near the end of Michael's first grade year, they were sleeping in the tiny duplex. All of the kids were there. Their mother left a few days before. The social workers showed up to take a few of the kids. All of the boys had an escape plan, but they forgot to tell the girls about it, so Denise and Tara were taken.

By the time Michael was in 2nd grade, he attended 5 different schools.

In the afternoon one day, Michael and Carlos were taken from Coleman Elementary and brought to the home of Velma Jones. This was his new home for a while. It was more strict and organized than life before.

When Michael was almost eleven, he ran away from the hospital to return home. He was in the hospital for depression treatment but he thought it just made him more depressed. Michael officially returned home.

The most scared Michael Oher has ever been was when he was eleven. The gangs had a shoot-out in the middle of the neighborhood.

By the end of 2001, more than 3,500 apartments had been closed. It was to separate the poor people and move them to better neighborhoods.

The summer before Michael's senior year, he was invited to live with the Tuohys full time. His real mother didn't really care where he lived.
