During a time when the US was trying to be ahead of the Soviets in anyway possible, one way they decided was with a space telescope. This would have been revolutionairy for the time but Hubble wasn't approved for over a decade after this.
-
This was a huge step in exploring the outer space. Hubble will open many doors for scientists who are trying to explore outer space. Plus the US will be ahead of any other country.
-
This was a big moment Hubble was ready to be launch as soon as it was allowed. Scientists would be able to see many parts of Space with Hubble.
-
Hubble's launch was delayed due to the Challenger spaceship disaster. Hubble was put on the back burner because NASA had to work on their space shuttles in order to get hubble in space. So NASA delayed the launch for a few years.
-
Hubble was launched and sent into orbit on April 25, 1990. Hubble was named after Edwin Hubble, an American Astronomer. So to honor him the telescope was known as Hubble.
-
Hubbles telescope was out of focus and astronauts were sent to fix it. Hubble wasn't fuctional until this point in time. Hubble could now do what it was supposed to.
-
Hubble took pictures and discovered the Orion Nebula. These images also confirmed that planets from around newborn stars. This was a huge event in the scientific community.
-
The Eagle Nebula is a very popular area where stars are being born. Scientists were able to see this for the first time ever.
-
Hubble needed to be updated with new instruments in order to view better objects. Astronauts replaced some of hubbles old instruments and updated them with new ones.

A fourth gyroscope on Hubble fails. Hubble was shut down in order to await repair. A space shuttle mission repaired Hubble and fixed and upgraded Hubble.
