    The FA was created so football in the UK so football could develop laws, rules and reguations so it could progress as a sport with little trouble and so it could also be improved in years to come. This has developed football today as with the rules and regulations, the game can run smoothly and players and managers know how matters can be dealt with, so problems that arise today can be dealt with straight away in a fair mannor so more people want to play football as it is a structured game.

  • First ever FA Cup matches were played

    This marked the day that the first FA Cup matches were played. This gave football teams the chance to play in different competitions and play different teams they wouldnt normally play. This has helped develop football today as you see more teams each year that are not from the Premier league competing and making it futher in the competition. This gives them the oppertunity to be spotted and move teams to a Premier one or just give them the experience of playing against the best.
  • £4 wage

    A maximum of a £4 wage a week was introduced for football players, this meant they were earning double than what a tradesman would have. Today this has meant that being a footballer can be a career so many children aspire to be footballers, which means that leauges like the premier leauge can stay as it is certain there more footballers to take the place of the previous.
  • First public demonstration on tv

    In a public demonstration, a football match ws shown on a TV to show the public what watching a match would be like from your own home. Because of this, today we now have channels such as sky, BBV and ITV that reguarly show football so millions of people can watch matches so no one misses out and football can still remain a much loved and watched sport.
  • FA Youth Cup was founded

    The FA Youth Cup was founded to attract more supporters and players to the event. This meant that more clubs were interested in playing in the FA Cup so it became more popular. This has helped youth football today as not only do they get to take part in the same competitions as the professionals but they have more chance of being scouted and having the chance to play professionally.
  • Womens FA was formed (WFA)

    The womens FA was founded in 1969 and six months after it was founded there was seven leauges that womens teams could compete in. Becasue of this, womens football today now has two major leagues in the UK known as the Womens Super League 1&2. This now inspires more young girls and women to take part in football as they now have something to aim for and encourage them to get better and there are now thousands of girls football teams in the UK.
  • Hillsbourgh disaster

    When thousands of people died due to poor construction and lack of security in this disaster, the FA took drastic action to prevent this from happening again. They made sure stadiums were seated so no one could cause accidents, fencing from around the pitch was removed so if there was to be an invasion, no serious harm could be caused by the fencing. Today this has made it a much more safe environment, especially for the young and elderly as it is a much for family orientaded game.

    The premier leauge was formed to break away from the football leaugue so teams could not only move up into the premier division but also be relegated so football had more competition and fight as teams wanted to stay in the top leaugue. This has helped today as football has become such a competitive sport and millions of people watch the premier leauge games at the weekend meaning football is still one of the most popular games in the UK.

    This was a land mark as Hope Powell became the first womens manager for England Ladies FC, as she led them to several finals such as the european finals. With her success and passion, womens football is more recognised today and because of this we are seeing an increase in females taking their level 1-3 coaching qualifications and getting more involved in football so they can one day manage a team or coach in the WSL.
  • Mini football leagues for childen under 10 years old

    Boys and girls could now play on smaller pitches with fewer players in leauges and competitons thanks to the FA. With the pitch size and rules modified, it enabled younger children to play football in a safe and fun environment since they could easily join in and know the rules.It also gives children an induction to football without pressuring them with rules and full pitch size. This has helped develop football in the UK as children from the age of 5 upwards can now particiate in leaugues.
  • FA Skills

    Sport England helped fund the FA to run FA skills for 5-11n year olds. This organisation holds skill centres across the UK for hliday sessions or after school clubs for children to take part and learn new football skills and develop their understanding of the game. This has helped develop football in the UK as more children want to g oto summer camps and get more involved in football whether it be at school, camps or local teams.

    In the 2009-2010 season managers could name seven subs and was able to use three. This has halped football as it is fairer as if a player is injured they can easily swap them over and have two ready to swap for a tired player so the managers had more options to help improve their teams performance.
  • Just Play

    In 2011 Mars joined up with the FA to create just play which is an inititive that people of all abilities can sign up to and turn up to a local just play session to play football. The sessions are run by level 1 coaches and men and women can play. This has helped develop football as adults that stopped playing football are now getting back into it and deciding to join teams or form new teams for older players so the increase in adults playing football is rising.
  • Goal line technology

    Goal line technology was introduced to help decide if a goal was scored by indicating whether the ball crossed the line. This has help develop football as it is a more reliable game now as you can clearly see if a goal has been scored or not.
  • Womens FA Cup Final announced to be played at Wembley

    For the first time in womens history, the Womens FA Cup Final will be staged at Wembley for the first time. This has helped womens football today as they are now getting the same treatment as the men since they have their final at Wembley. This has meant that more girls want to play football as they have the dream of playing at Wembley.
