    • Jesus went into Israel on a donkey that had not been ridden before his entry. When he entered the crowds praised him and "spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and strewed them on the road."
  • Jesus Agony in the Garden

    Jesus Agony in the Garden
    Jesus brings Peter and the two sons of Zebedee to come pray with him in the garden. He then prays to God, “My Father,if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.” When he comes back to his disciples he finds them sleeping when he told them to keep watch of him. He tells them “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour?...The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” He then goes and prays twice more telling God that he will undergo the test of death.

    Thursday April 13, 2017- Jesus told his disciples to prepare a meal for Passover which he would share with them. At the meal Jesus said “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.” Jesus then reveals that the disciple who will betray him is Judas. He then gives thanks breaks the bread which he tells them is his body. Next, he told his disciples to drink the wine which he told them was his blood.

    The High Priests condemned Jesus to death and he was handed over to the Roman governor. Pilate questions Jesus and Jesus affirms himself as King of the Jews and the Messiah. Jesus was handed over to the Jews for execution. Pilate washed his hands saying “I am innocent of this man’s blood. Look to it yourselves.”

    Judas told the priests that he had sinned for betraying Jesus who was innocent of any crimes. The priests told him that it was not their problem anymore and that it was Judas' problem. "So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself." The priests were not allowed to put the money into the treasury. Instead they bought what is today known as the Field of Blood.

    Judas comes with a large crowd of people and tells them “The man I shall kiss is the one; arrest him.” He goes and kisses Jesus; he is then arrested. One of his disciples draws his sword and struck the high priest's servant. Jesus highly condemns the act and the disciples flee. The courts tried to find false testimonies to put Jesus to death and could not find any. Jesus said he was the Son of God and the High Priests put him to death for what they thought was Blasphemy.

    Jesus was taken to Golgotha/the Place of the skull near the city and was crucified between two other men."Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, 'Jesus the Nazorean, the King of the Jews.'"The inscription was put into many languages so many could read it. His clothes were split up in four and they cast lots for his tunic which fulfilled a prophesy. He died after drinking the wine. After he had died they thrust a spear into his side and water and blood came out.

    A rich disciple of Jesus named Joseph went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus and it was given to him. Joseph then prepared the body for burial by cleaning and wrapping him in linen. The next day the priests asked Pilate if they could secure the tomb for, Jesus said ‘After three days I will be raised up.’ A huge stone then secured the tomb.

    Peter had followed Jesus from a distance to the courtyard. One of the maids approached Peter and said, "'You too were with Jesus the Galilean.'" Peter denied the accusation and kept walking.He was then confronted by another girl who said she saw him with Jesus. He denied it again. FInally a group of bystanders accused him of knowing Jesus. For a third time he denied him. Then the cock crowed and Peter remembered what Jesus said, "'Before the cock crows you will deny me three times.'"

    After Jesus was put on the cross darkness came over the area until three o'clock. He then cried out, "'Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?' which means, “'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'” Someone came over with a sponge soaked in wine and the crowd told him to wait for Elijah to save him. When Jesus died the earth quaked, tombs opened and the bodies of many saints rose from the dead. The saints went into the city and appeared to many. The men watching over Jesus were convinced Jesus was God.

    Both Mary's were going to check on the tomb of Jesus. An earthquake erupted and an angel appeared to them and sat on the stone of the tomb. "His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men." The angel told them Jesus was no longer in the tomb and he had risen from the dead. He told them to go and tell the disciples of the news. On their way back they met Jesus and worshipped him. They went continued.

    Jesus' eleven disciples went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. They saw him and worshipped him, yet some of them doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
  • The Ascension of Jesus

    Jesus told the disciples, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” He told them that they will be witness to all that he had done for all nations. Afterwards he was taken up into the kingdom of Heaven. Two men dressed in all White appeared and said that Jesus would return in the same glory as his Ascension.
