    American Revolutionary War
    The American Revolution was fought from 1775-1783. It was fought by the rebel American soldiers and England over Americans getting their independence. The Americans eventually won the war and became their own country.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was signed in Cogress, saying that the American citizens wanted to be free of the tyranny of England. They then sent the Declaration to The King of England, thus starting the Revolutionary War
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was land west of the Mississippi which streched to as far as Utah. It was bought by America from France for 5 cents an acre. This purchase of land was done in secret and when the public found out they didn't support it. This spawned one of the greatest adventure tales in American History with Lewis and Clark.

    War of 1812
    The War of 1812 was fought by Americans and Great Britain over trade rights. Around this time the USA had just started its Navy for the up coming war. This was fought from 1812-1815 and was not liked by the citizens of either country. The war was uncunclusive and both sides decided to go back to how trade was before the war.

    The California Gold Rush was a chaotic time in American Hisory. California struck gold and thousands of people across the country, and even other parts of the world, flocked there, hoping to strike it rich. In California prices for everything rose due to inflation. Most people who went ended up loosing money.

    Bleeding Kansas was a time when Kansas was going to become a state and the citizens got to choose if they wanted slavery or not. It was a violent time as both sides desperately wanted to get their way. This is one of the leading factors of the Civil War.

    John Brown was a famous abolitionist. He and his sons went to Harpers Ferry which was a big weapon depot for the south. He hoped to start a slave rebelion and take the base. The slaves never came and he was captured and put to death.

    After the election of Abraham Lincoln, the south seceeded from the Union fearing the ban of slavery. They made their own government, had their own president, and even their own currency. This was the start of the Civil War as the Union wouldn't allow them to seceed without a fight.
  • Battle of Antietam

    The battle of Antietam is the bloodiest day in American history. It was fought in Antietam, Virginia. It was considered one of the turning points in the War for the North. The blood in the river was so high that the river rose up and stained the underside of the bridge.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Emancipation Proclamation
    The Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Lincoln after the Battle of Antietam. It stated that all the Southern slaves would be free and that they could come and join the Union Army. The addition of colored soldiers gave the Union a huge advantage in more troops and soldiers with a sense of purpose; fighting for their freedom.
  • 54th Massachusetts Infantry

    54th Massachusetts Infantry
    The 54th Massachusetts Infantry was a regiment of entirely black soldiers besides a few white officers. This was the first of its kind and they were highly sucessful in battle. When they were first formed they were only used for manual labor, but once in battle they proved themselves greatly and were very highly regarded as one of the best regiments. After the Battle of Fort Wagner, where the 54th lost almost half their troops, they were praised for their incredible bravery.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    The battle of Gettysburg was an accidental battle and both sides were some what ill prepared. This battle lasted for three days. On the third day the South attempted to make a mile long charge up to the Unions defences. This is known as Sherman's March. 11,000 Confederate soldiers died in this march and the rest fled. The Gettysburg Adress was given after dedicating the ground to the soldiers who lost their lives.
