    The Battle of Marathon

    This is the first major battle in the Persian Wars. It is called the battle of Marathon Because Pheidippides ran 26 miles to tell Athens the battle was so.The Greeks won this battle with the phalanx formation.

    The Battle of Thermopylae

    The battle of Thermopylae is the second major battle in the Persian Wars. During this battle 300 Spartans held Thermopylae for three days against the Persians but lost.

    The Battle of Salamis

    This is the final battle in the Persian Wars. It is a sea battle between Persia and Greece. Greece ends up winning and takes 1/3 of the Persian fleet as well. After this Battle the Persians aren't a threat any more and the Delian League is created by Athens.

    The Peloponnesian War

    After the Persian war Athens created the Delian League and bullied it's members. In response to this Sparta created the Peloponnesian League.The Delian League and Peloponnesian League go to war over this. During the war Athens catches a plague in which 1/3 of the population dies including their leader Pericles. After this Athens is weakened and Sparta wins the war. After the war Athens is weakened and Sparta is the leading city-state in Greece.
