  • First Catholic School

    In 1845 Mary funded money to build the catholic school. It was located near saint Stephens chapel. The money was funded from local Catholics.
  • First Catholic Church

    The Church was named the first cathedral of Australia. It was first originated in Sydney then Queensland. Then known as the colony of Queensland.
  • All Hallows Secondary School

    Mother Vincent Witty and Sisters of Mercy established this. They established the first every catholic secondary school in Australia. the teachers had training before and after school.
  • Saint James School

    This was the first boys catholic school established. It was funded by lay teachers. It was a school that had religions kids and lay teachers
  • Time of Growth

    Free compulsory education for children. State funding for schools. The growth was getting to big so they stop funding schools and catholics.
  • Mary Mackillop

    She arrived in Brisbane to teach children. All catholic schools were self funded. Mary also started a collage.
  • James Duick

    He saw a need for more catholic education and established 28 new catholic schools.
  • World War 2 Povity

    Catholic education was affected by the war. There was a lack of teachers, growing class sizes and economic challenges.
  • Father Bernard O'Shea

    Appointed director of Catholic education. He lead transformation of catholic education in Brisbane.
  • New Catholic Schools

    15 new catholic schools were opened.
