History of Space Exploration

  • Never traveled farther

Since the 1950's, only 24 people have traveled as far as the moon. No human has ever been farther. People have never traveled father because they use space probes which collets data about space for you with no human crew. this has been going on since the 1950's to present day.
  • NASA

In late 1958, the U.S. had created a government agency which we all know, NASA ( National Aeronautics and Space Administration). This was important to the space exploration because it brought together the talents of many different engineers and scientists.
  • 9161 speech

On May 1961 president John F. Kennedy said that his goal was to have the first human being step on the moon by the end of the decade. This was important to the space exploration because to have the first man on the moon would be great for thire company and they would keep sending people to the moon with better technology and better ecuetment
  • Man on the moon

On July 16 1969, Neil Armstrong took on small step step for man and one giant leap for man kind to be the first human that ever set foot on the moon. This was so important because he was the first human on the moon.
  • Apollo 11

July 20 1969 there were three American astronauts that circled the moon on the Apollo 11. This was so important because it was the firts time taht any human being set foot on the moon for the United States.
  • Spacecrafts

Before 1983, a spacecraft could only be used once. This was important because the space exploration and NASA kept having to spend more and more money to bye or fix the spacecrafts.
  • First woman in space

On June 18, 1983, a woman named Sally Ride became the first American woman to fly into space after her space shuttle Challenger launched on mission STS-7. This was important because she was the first American woman in space.
  • Mir

In 2001, the space station Mir was in orbit fir 15 years before it fell to the Earth. This was important because a lot of astronauts from different countries were on the Mir, and it was devistating to everyone on the space exploration when it fell.
  • New to the moon

In 2004, the U.S. said that they had a plan to take a permanet colony of people that would be sent to the moon. This was important because we would beat Europe from our space exploration company and they would be able to send more people to the moon and other palnets in the future.
  • People to Mars

On October 28, 2010, NASA unveils palns to send humans one way to Mars. This is important because some luckey people get to explore the Red planet and see if it is saft for humans to live there.
