    The United States governemt launched the ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency).The ARPA helped to start new efforts in science and technology. This would soon help the internet grow.

    The first network systems ARPANET was built. Bob Taylor created the idea and got the money to do so from Charlie Herzfeld. Bob Taylor attempted to partner up with AT&T and was turned away, which created them to miss out on the early networking experience.
  • Networking Protocols

    Robert Kahn teamed with Vint Cerf to devise the TCP and IP networking protocals. This led to interface message processors. Then on september 2 the first t.m.p was connected to the first host it happened at UCLA. Then on October 29th the first SRI to host this lead to a basic linking structure being created to connect to the internet.

    Interconnecting Networks
    The internet has its root in TCP, which is a way of interconnection networks. Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf had created this transmission control protocol which was from a packet switched satellite network.

    Apple comptuter created by Steve Jobs and Steve Wazniak. Created one of the first personal computers priced at 1,200. These computers are still the most popular.

    Instant messaging or message boards. This led to the first email, which led to the first "junk" email.

    Friendster
    Former netscape engineer Jonathan Abrams created Friendster. While friendster was popular during this time, it paved the way for a more trendy site named Myspace.
  • Facebook

    Facebook
    In 2004,Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in his dorm. To this day, Facebook is still one of the most popular social media sites.
  • Myspace

    Myspace overtook friendster. Myspace was founded by Tom Anderson and Chris Seware. Myspace was a site where the user has to deliberatley invite your friends to use it with you. Myspace uses self- expression. This was because the site allowed users ti customize their profile through colors, photos, and music.
  • Youtube

    Youtube
    Chad Hurley, a former graphic designer started Youtube, a user generated content. There were already other video sites out there defining what the audience would want, and not allowing them to interact or even upload their own videos. We allowed everyone to put their content online. Every minute on their site they receive over 10 hours of video. This site allows users to upload videos and to interact with other users.
