    This was only for the eldest son of the family. Church schools places emphasis on singing and literacy which resulted in the foundation of Glasgow and Aberdeen University

    There are now 200 Higher Grade Schools in Scotland at this point

    This made secondary education compulsory up unit the age of 14

    Comprehensive education introduced when public schools for primary and secondary did not take in the biased academic achievements to put them into selective school systems based on their results

    The Dunblane school massacre forced school to update security and guns banned in the UK

    The Equality Act ensures that all pupils are held with the same regard no matter the race, gender, disabilities and sexual orientation.

    This Act includes provisions for strategic planning to consider socio-economic barriers to learning
