    President Clinton puts "Don't ask, Dont Tell" policy
    Don't Ask, Dont Tell (D.A.D.T) was put into place by Bill Clinton. It is supposed to prevent discrimination against gay people. It says that as long as they are not openly gay and they say their straight they can enter the military. The policy prohibits people who "demonstrate a propensity or intent to engage in homosexual acts" from serving in the armed forces of the United States, because their presence "would create an unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, and discipline.

    The Latur earthquake struck India at 03:56 local time on September 30, 1993. The main area affected was the Maharashtra State in Western India. approximately 20,000 people died while another 30,000 were injured.

    Nicole Brwon Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found dead inside their home. Evidence found at the crimescene pointed to O.J Simpson. Nicole had been stabbed multiple times through the throat to the point of near decapitation. It was never proven that O.J commited the murders, but it is widely believed he did. He had a lot of money, and believed that he bought his way out of being convicted,

    At 9:02 a.m. on April 19, 1995, a Ryder rental truck, containing approximately 5,000 pounds of of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, nitromethane, and diesel fuel was detonated in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, destroying a third of the building and causing severe damage to several other buildings located nearby. 168 people were killed, including 19 children, and over 800 others were injured. It was the most deadly terrorist attack, with the most property damage, before 9/11

    The 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings were a series of attacks that occurred on August 7, 1998, in which hundreds of people were killed in simultaneous truck bomb explosions at the United States embassies in the major East African cities of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. The attacks were linked to Egyptian Islamic Jihad. It is one of the first things that brought Osama Bin Laden to attention, and he was placed on the FBI's top ten most wanted list.

    the impeachment process against Bill Clinton. He was alledgedly in a sexual relation with Monica Lewinsky. He swore that he did not have sexual relations with her. In his words "I did not have sexual relations with that woman". Months later he came out and said that he did, and that it was wrong. They wanted him impeached because he lied about it, and swore that he did not.

    This is important because even though Bill Clinton lied about having sex with Monica Lewinsky, and that is againt the law, to lie when your under oathe. It was nothing that effected the country, and people thought he was a good leader. They didnt want to see him leave office just because of this.

    George W. Bush the son of George Herbert Walker Bush won the presidential election against Al Gore. They had to do a recount of Florida, but it showed that Bush had more votes. Bush received 543,895 fewer individual votes than Gore nationwide. Bush won the election, receiving 271 electoral votes to Gore's 266

    September 11 Terrorist attack
    On September 11, 2001, terrorist seized control of 4 passenger jet planes. They crashed 2 of the planes into the world Trade Centers, 1 into the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed into a feild in Pennsylvania. 3,497 people lost their lives on this day. After this happened we went to war to fight back.

    On october 7, 2001, in response to the terrorist attacks the U.S and Brithish Governments started bombing campaigns in Afghanistan. This was a move of revenge and to go after the Taliban Government. They were the ones responsible for the September 11 terrorist attacks.

    Pakistani authorities captured Kahlid Sheik Mohammed in Karachi. He is the suspected mastermid behind the September 11 attacks. He filed that he was being tortured, but nothing has been done about it. He is held on a lot of charges, murders, the september 11 attacks, the 1993 bombing of the world trade center.

    The U.S and other coalitions began military operations in Iraq. After repeated violations of United Nations resolutions by Iraq, the United States and other coalition nations begin military operations. This was the start of the Iraq War to remove Saddam Husein from power and search for Weapons of Mass Destruction.

    The United States turned over control of the war to the Iraqi government. After helping liberate the people and the country from the dictator Saddam Hussein. We maintained presence there in Iraq to police the country, and help the country set up a new government. Just lately have the troops been pulled out of Iraq.

    For the first time in over 25 years free open elections were held in Afghanistan. These are the first democratic parliamentary elections held in over 25 years. This is a huge step for Afghanistan, and its people. They get to elect their own governemnt, and pick the people they want as president. Former warlords and their followers gained the majority of seats in both the lower house and the provincial council. Turnout was estimated at about 50%.

    Iran breaks the United Nations seals on its nuclear facility, vowing to restart its nuclear research program. Their has been many talks with them about this, and sanctions against them. But they keep on with the nuclear facilities. This could be a really bad thing, because there are reasons they werent allowed to do it, but they did anyways.

    Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death by hanging for crimes against humanity. Saddam was hanged on the first day of Eid ul-Adha, 30 December 2006, despite his wish to be shot. The execution was videotaped on a mobile phone and his captors could be heard insulting Saddam. The video was leaked to electronic media and posted on the Internet within hours, becoming the subject of global controversy

    The long time president of Cuba announced his resignition from presidencty to be effective 5 days later. His younger brother Raul Castro took over for him. This was a good thing, because Raul has removed alot of restrictions Fidel had in place, and has tried to make good ties with the U.S.

    On October 11 2008 On October 11, 2008, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the world financial system was teetering on the "brink of systemic meltdown. The Stock Market crashed, buisnesses started failing, banks closed down, big companies declared bankrupcy. This was huge and turned into a global economic probem.
