    After the Cuban Revolution against Fidel Castro many refugees sought out shelter in North America. To accommodate the student refugees, Coral way Elementary school established a Bi-cultural/Bilingual program into their curriculum. This allowed for Spanish and English speaking students to learn the same curriculum at the same time.

    In attempt to combat poverty in education. Lyndon B. Johnson enacted ESEA. ESEA used federal funding to help support low-income students. Through this program came multiple others such as: Bilingual programs, Migrant Education, and Advance placement programs.

    This act increased immigration be early 700,000 people. Specific aspects of the law ensured that the immigrants would have family visas and work visas. This mass amount of immigrations flooded the North America school system, making it more diverse than ever.

    The attacks on September 11, 2001 will forever live in America's history as one of the deadliest attacks. These attacks enacted the patriot bill as well as reforms on Homeland Security. It has forever changed Americans perceptions culturally and Americans safety.

    This act, enacted by President George W. Bush, holds schools to higher standards. If students do not score high on mandated testing, the schools are held accountable and are subject to penalties.

    The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 was a stimulus package designed to put money back into schools. It provided almost 90 million dollars to schools to help prevent layoffs and help schools with repairs and modernization.
