     Diana v. California State Board
    This act was to be able to have kids with special needs take their special education classes in their native language. I feel like this was something that was important becuasebeing a special needs child, it is already difficult to learn as it is. Having this come to pass, it makes them a bit more comfortable taking thier classes.
  • The Equal Educational Opportunities Act

    The Equal Educational Opportunities Act
    This law was passed so that there is no discrimination amongst students. It was passed there is no bias against students when in their learning community. It protects against race, nationality, color and gender. This was important because if there still was racial bias until this day, there would have been many things that could have been created.
  • The Education of All Handicapped Children Act (PL 94-142)

    The Education of All Handicapped Children Act (PL 94-142)
    This law made it so that all handicapped children have free education, makes sure the rights of the child and parent are protected, and to make sure their educaiton from the teachers are effective. Handicapped children deserve an education just like any other child does, so this is important becauseit gives kids who arent as able as other kids to have the education they need and deserve.
  • National Association of Bilingual Education

     National Association of Bilingual Education
    The point of the N.A.B.E. is to be able to have equality for students who are multilingual. They advocate for people who are English learners as well, and are looking for equity with those English learners, and the multilingual speakers, and offer a bilingual eduation
  • The Smart Board

    The Smart Board
    Although it is not neccessary to have one, smart boards have been very helpful in the classroom. It helps with different programs, projections, and can link to a computer. It is a touch screen device so it is also very interactive, ad some kids need that for their education.

     Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996
    This act was created to improve border patrol be monitoring trafficking of any kind, undocumented immigrants from entering, and also made it impossible to receive government aide. This event made its mark on our education system just because there could have been kids crossing borders to go to school in America, who weren't allowed to, but other countries, such as Mexico fought back.

    Proposition 227
    This proposition made it that all public classrooms in America are to be taught in English. It did cause majot issues with non english speakers, but it did make a mark in history because from that point on, these classes were limited to one language that everyone had to learn.
  • The Higher Education Act

    The Higher Education Act
    This act was reauthorized and made it possible for low income students to receive a high education with the help government funding to help pay for their education. This was extremely important because it makes college affordable to low income students but also gives them a chance to go to college and makes it so money cant be a reason why they cant go.
  • Virginia Tech Fatal Shooting

    Virginia Tech Fatal Shooting
    During this event, Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old student, kills two students in a dorm and then another 30 students in the classroom, and wouding 17, and after commiting suicide, bring the fatalities to 33 people. This event was and still is important because it sparked a big debagte about gun laws and gun violence, as well as students mental health. Not all students have support from people to be able to talk about their problems, and they need it.
  • Virginia School Walk Out

    Virginia School Walk Out
    Teachers is west Virginia are striking against their school system becuase they do not get paid what they deserve, as well as not having the best benefits. This event was important becuase teachers do need to get paid what they deserve. What some people dont realize is that teachers bring up future generations, these kids futures can depend on how well someone can teach them.
