    On this day the National League of Proffesional Baseball otherwise known as the National League (NL) was created. The first game of baseball, was played in Hoboken, New Jersey by the Cincinnati Red Stockings and became the first baseball club. In 1876 buissness man William Hubert formed the "NL" to replace the National asscoiation which he believed was corrupt.

  • The first World Series is played

    The first World Series is played
    Over years of battling each other for player the American League and National league join and made arrangements for a postseason. When the best of the two leagues the Boston Pilgrims and the Pittsburgh Pirates played in the so called "World Champioship Series". This was a best of 9 game format, it featured two amazing player known as Cy Young and Deacon Phillipe. Boston went 5-3 to clinch the first World Series ever played.

    William Howard Taft became the first president to throw out a first pitch. He threw it from the stands at Griffith Stadium home of the Washington Senators. Ever sense it has been a tradition to throw out the first pitch when you are president. Every president but Jimmy Carter has thrown out a first pitch to a Major League ball club. Taft was going to throw the first pitch at the opener but missed it due to the loss of his close friend who had just died on the Titanic.

    This was a huge achievement for the MLB as people could listen to the league at home. The first radio game broadcast was the Pittsburgh Pirates versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Harold Arlin a 25 year old Westinghouse foreman and nighttime studio announcer announced the game. He sat at the ground level of Forbes field, and used a converted telephone as a microphone. It was broadcasted on the KDKA, the first commercial radio station.

    This game was highly anticipated as it was called "The Game of the Century". It featured Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, and Al Simmons. Baba Ruth hit the first homerun in that game launching one off Bill Hallahan. Frankie Frisch of the National League matched him hitting a 6th inning blast for the NL. This game was played at Comiskey Park in Chicago and had a mind blowing 49,000 people attended the event.

    The first lighted game was between the Cincinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Phillies. It was the first night game ever and it was held at Crosely Field in Cincinnati, Ohio. The time of night becam the time when prime time games were on television. It grew a huge crowd and became a grand as many other stadiums around the league installed lights between 1930-1940.

    The greatest baseball player to every play on November 28,1935 finally retires. George Herman Ruth had a fabulous career. He was inducted into the hall of fame on May 10, 1936 taking up 215 out of 226 ballots. His career batting average was .342, had 714 home runs, 2873 hits, 2213 RBI ( runs batted in), 94-46 pitching record, and a 2.28 ERA ( earned runs average). Babe Ruth's most famous homerun was the called shot where he pointed his bat to center on a 2-2 count and blasted a homerun to center

    Up to Jackie Robinson it seemed crazy for a African American to play baseball. One quote from Branch Rickey describes Jackie a lot, "there was never a man in the game who could put his mind and muscles together quicker and with better judgement than Robinson". Jackie played opening day with the Brooklyn Dodgers he did not get a hit in the game but reached on a error in the 7th and scored the go-ahead run. Jackie had 1518 hits, 137 home runs, 734 RBI, 197 stolen bases, and .311 batting average.

This helped the revenue as many people attended the games just to see the roof open and close. This helped baseball as there would be more no delays due to weather in the SkyDome. This stadium revolutionized the stadium world.

    In 1991 the Sterois era had came to a abrupt end. The league banned the drug from baseball and in 2003 stared PED testing ( performance enhancing drugs). From the era 1961- 1990 a 50 homerun mark was very hard to reach but in the 1990's the homerun total could be reached with ease. During the homerun chase McGwire admitted to have used androstenedione a PED. If drugs used you would get a 15 game suspension and a 10,000 dollar fine. 5-7 percent of players in 2003 had tested positive

    In 2001 the amazing record has been broke. Barry Bonds have beat Mark McGwire's record or 71 home runs to 73. It was p,aged at Pacific Bell park, and he hit it off of Dennis Springer. It was a 1-1 count and was a bomb to left-center. He become the fastest to reach 70 home runs getting there at game 159. He hit his 73 one his 160 game. He averaged a amazing 6.5 at-bats per homerun.

    The curse of the babe is broken in 2004. The curse started when Babe Ruth got traded to the Yankees from the Red Sox in a blockbuster deal for 25,000 dollars. From 1919 on the Red Sox have not one a World Series. They had many heartbreaking moments from the Bill Buckner play to the Aaron Boon Homerun. But in the ALCS the Red Sox came from behind a 3-0 series and one 4 straight game against the New York Yankee. They then went on to sweep the Carrdinals in a 4-0 series.

    The best Shortstop to ever play the game retired in 2014. He played his whole career with the Yankees. He had 3465 hits, 260 home runs, 1311 RBI, and a .310 average. He was drafted in 1992 6th overall by the Yankees. He won AL MVP in 2000, won 5 World Series with the Yankees, won World Series MVP in 2000, 16 time allstar, and has won 5 silver slugger awards.
  • Replay is added

    Replay is added
    The replay aspect was added in 2015. This was made to help solve questionable calls and get them right. This would help stop ejections and it made the game better. Using replay the umpire has the ability to switch a call if he feels it was not called correctly. A club gets one challenge and it cannot be used past the 7th inning. If the umpire argues with the review he is ejected.
