  • British north America act

    Act saying that French or English could be used by anyone in political debates in parliament. Was not well enforced

  • New Brunswick common schools act

    Act aimed to get rid of church run schools (which were taught in French

    to allow joint secular/religious schooling because the residence were going crazy

  • Manitoba official langue’s act

    Made English the only language used in schools / laws / records. This was pretty much kept in play until 1979:(

  • Alberta and Saskatchewan picked English as their official languag

    It is restricted to only grades 1-3
