James Creighton Moves From Halifax to Nova Scotia

James Creighton moved from Nova Scotia to Montreal and he brought the game of hockey with him

Indoor Informal Hockey Game Played

After introducing hockey to his friends in Montreal James Creighton organized a group of player to practice the sport for the first time indoors at Victoria Skating Rink

First Hockey Public Exhibition

Creighton staged the first public exhibition of hockey using a flat ball he created which is called a "puck"

First Organized Hockey Team

The McGill University in Montreal named the first organized hockey team

First Hockey Rules

The Montreal Gazette, a newspaper in Montreal Quebec, published the first hockey rules. There were 7 hockey rules.

First National Hockey League

The first National Hockey League was formed called the Amateur Hockey Association of Canada (AHAC)

Hockey Team Rideau Rebels Formed

Montreal Winter Carnival Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley watched a game betwween the Montreal Victorias and Amateur Hockey Association and was so excited about the game he helped form the team Rideau Rebels.

Ontario Hockey Association Formed

The Ontario Hockey Association was formed by Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley

Stanley Cup Introduced

The Stanley Hockey Championship Cup was introducted. It was a lot smaller than what it is today. It was the size of a football.
