    football began to be played in England in the 19th century; England was the first country in the world to develop organized football, it started off when schools started to play against each other in the 15th and 16th centuries, each schools had their own rules they first tried to make their own rules in 1848 they were called the Cambridge rules.

    1866-1888- The offside rule was introduced and the first player to be called offside was W.C.     1935 the most ever goals were scored in one game when tranmere rovers hammered Oldham 13-4 which meant there was 17 goals in just one match and just the year after the record was set for the most goals in just one game which was 10 by Joe Payne who played for Luton and scored the goals against Bristol rovers. In 1928 Chelsea and arsenal were the first teams to have numbered shirts but in 1939 every team started wearing numbered shirts.

    in 2003 they brought in the 10 point deduction if any team are in debt, in 2004 James hayter who played for Bournemouth scored the fastest hat-trick in 2 minutes and 20 seconds also in that year the leagues where re-named from league 1, 2 and 3 to championship, league 1 and league 2, in 2006 Reading set the record for the most points in one season with 106 points, in 2008 the highest attendance for a promotion play-off with 86,703 people at one game at Wembley.

    in 2009 Football League reaches agreement with HMRC giving it access to clubs’ tax affairs to ensure that they are up to date. In 2011 sky sports agree a deal with leagues that games will be played regularly, in 2012 Huddersfield set a record of 43 games on beaten in the football league in the same year the football league introduced fair play. In 2013-14 Manchester city won their second premier league title in Manuel pellegrinis first year in charge.
