In 1872, a bet was made betting that all four of a horse's feet are off the ground at one point. A man took many rapid pictures of the horse and cought it with all four feet off of the ground. This was said to be the origin of filming.

Hans Hass uses self-contained diving equipment and flippers to search for wildlife. This allowed a film about fish and other wildlife to be made underwater. It also allowed the filming of normally inaccesable caves to be explored and saved on camera.
