The printing press is a device that transfers ink by inking a surface with ink and applying pressure to either paper or cloth. This invention was invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the "Holy Empire of Rome" and it brought in a new era of information since by the year 1500, more than 20 million volumes had been printed, and a mechanical type had been introduced in Renaissance Europe, entering a new era of mass communication.
