The Common School Movement was trying to make every kid get an education through local taxes, and provide a well-rounded school system. This was done by Horace Mann, who was elected secretary of the newly founded Macchetues Board of Education in 1837.

This led to the schools not being separated anymore. Separating kids by their race at school is unconstitutional. This was huge because kids of all races were allowed to go to school together so no more "separate but equal"

ACT stands for American College Testing which was an alternative to the SAT. ACT is done by pencil and paper it is a timed test and it gives you a score the best score you could receive is a 36. Although ACT is not as big of a deal as it use to be it can help you a lot if you do well on it.

Head Start is a program that lasts 8 weeks. It started for low-income families. Kids who enroll in head start usually tend to be more successful in life.
