The Smith Hughes Act provided federal funding for vocational education. It was created to promote agricultural education in hopes to supply the country with better farming and more food.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act was passed in 1965 as part of Lyndon B. Johnson's "War on Poverty." It is said to be one of the most impactful federal legislation acts in education. It provides federal funding to ensure that equal oppurtunities are provided for all elementary and secondary students, to shorten achievement gaps, and to create higher standards and accountability.
