    Schools in Early Colonial America

    Schools at this time tended to be focused on the religious side of things such as learning to read the bible, writing, and understanding the meanings of words or context.
    However, they changed the course of learning from being religious to more on the side of honest work from clerks to iron smiths.

    Professionalized

    During this time new things to educate the general public and not just students was through Benjamin Franklin who started public libraries and places to expand educational opportunities.
    Teachers are now being regarded as Professional work that requires a some sort of sense of training to the point for teaching children at the time.

    Strides for Equality and Wide use

    At this time the majority of people couldn't afford sending their children to school, but a man by the name of Horace Mann changed that by creating a way to establish free, public education for every boy and girl. Also during this time was the increase of African-Americans being taught in schools and then after the civil war came in much greater numbers and were seen more often in the classroom. Although, segregation was still a well practice law in schools.

    The "Roaring 20's" and The Great Depression

    In the 20's there was a boom in economics and the average family had enough "disposable" money to send their kids to get an education while getting's get and with new programs to teach new topics from history to math and new work forums to come.
    Then the depression hit and schools had the brunt just like everyone else and ran into debts. They didn't have money to teach. Teachers worked without pay. Eventually, when FDR came into office the schools got funding and came back up and running.

    New Strides

    During this time as the men go off to war in America more Women and African-Americans find jobs in schools.
    There was also a "Baby Boom" and schools ,especially, in public schools had also boomed in amount and sizes to accommodate.
    The schools got extra support from the government and help to give extra programs and new teaching methods for the students and other faculty.
