  • The first computer

    Bell Labs introduced the first transistor computer. By replacing bulky vacuum tubes with transistors, computers could now do the same things, using less power and space.

    Basil Hirschowitz invented optical fiber in 1956. Fiber optics is a flexible, transparent fiber made by drawing plastic or glass to a diameter a little thicker than a human hair.
