    Invented by John Backus. Still used today for mathmatical and scientific applications

    Released by the Rand Corporation. Developed by Charles Katz. It derived from A-0. It was an early programming language For UNIVAC I and UNIVAC II.
  • Lisp

    Was Designed by John McCarthy. Lisp was created to practice mathematical notation for comutper programs.
  • RPG

    RPG means Repot Program Generator. Developed by IBM and used for business applications.
  • Cobol

    COBOL stands for Common Business Oriented language. Developed by a group of computer professionals called the Conference on Data Systems Languages. It was used for business, finance, and administrative systems for companies and governments.

    Basic stands for Beginner All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Cod. It was designed by two professors at Dartmouth University. The purpose of this program was to be an easy first language for programming.

    Logo is used in education. It is written as a functional programming language. Developed by Wally Feurzeig.

    B was designed by D. M. Ritchie and K.L. Thompson. Was made for non-numerical applications.

    Program C was designed by Dennis Ritchie. This program provides constructs that easily map machine intructions.

    Designed by Niklaus Wirth. This language is intended to encourage good programming practices using structured programing and data structuring.

    Developed by Robin Milner. ML is a general purpose functional programming language. ML standes for metalanguage.
  • ADA

    Ada was named after Ada, Lady Lovelace. She is know to be the first computer programer. ADA was desighned for the US Dept. of Defense to support large scale programming and promote software reliability.

    Came from program C. Was invented by Brad Cox. This is used to write NextStep in Next Computers.

    SQL stands for Structured Query Language. Designed for managing data in relational database management systems. Developed by ISO.
  • Visual Basic

    Developed by Microsoft. It is a widely understood high-level programming language that interprets language. It is simple to use that other languages.
  • Python

    Developed by Guido Van Rossum. Python is an inertpreted, interactive, object oriented programming language.
  • Java

    Invented by James Gosling. Java is not confiened to machine applications only and builds transportable multimedia applications.
  • Delphi

    Delphi was formaly known as Object Used for the development of desktop and enterprise database applicaitaion. It was developed by Borland.
  • PHP

    Designed by Rasmus Lerdorf. It was designed for Wed development to make dynamic Web pages.
  • JavaScript

    Developed by Netscape. This program allows user interaction in web pages.
