After the game it came to light that gamblers had paid eight players of the White sox to throw the game. Three of the four base coachs are Hall of Famers adn even two of the umpires went into the Hall of Fame.     Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, the M&M Boys. During the season the two players of the Yankees continued to battle it out for the most homeruns that season. On the last day of the season Maris hit his 61st homerun breaking Babe Ruth's after 34 years.     The Pine Tar Incident
    The pine tar game was a game between the Yankees and the Royals. He ended up hitting a 2-run homerun, but the Yankees manager Billy Martin noticed a large amount of pine tar on Brett's bat. He told the umpires about it, they took a look ruled that there was an illegal amount and called him out. The Royals later protested the game, resulting in a restart of the game before Brett's hit.

  • Pete Rose

    Pete Rose
    On this day the allegaions that Pete Rose had been gambeling while playing and managing was presented to the public. Rose denied everything, refused to show up for a hearing, and filed a lawsuit saying that the comminsoner had prejudged the case and could not provide a fair hearing. He was later put on the baseball permentally ineligible list, and anyone on that list is not allowed to be in the hall of fame.
