Born in New York in 1858, he grew up in a loving family home. Later he went to Harvard University where he met his wife Alice, who later died giving birth to their daughter. He later remarried to Edith and after the Spanish-American war, he became vice President under McKinley. President McKinley was assassinated in 1901, and Roosevelt was made president. He is most known for his construction of the Panama Canal.

The Central Powers - Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Italy fought the Allied Powers - England, France, Russia, and the U.S. Italy joined the Allied Powers in 1915, Russia left the war in 1917, and the U.S left in 1917 as well. The war was fought in trenches and new technology was used including poison gas, machine guns, flame throwers, airplanes, blimps, and submarines. The war was ended after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.
