    Saddam´s forces attacked the Kurds, they lost most of their self-government. The Kurds get help from the Iran. The Kurds form part of the 20% of the population of Iraq.

    Saddam was made general of the army. The repression was extended throughout Iraq society with report of torture and rape.

    Saddam forced the actual president to resign and he took it. He carried out a purge of anyone who might be a threat to him. Also, he condemned Egypt for making a peace treaty with Israel.

    After an attempt to assassinate him in the village, Saddam order his security to kill 150 villagers in retaliation.
  • Kurdish problem

    Saddam planed to bombarded the Kurdish town, Halabja, using chemical weapon. Around 180,000 Kurd were killed and 100,00 were refuged.
