    Athenian Democracy started the idea of modern day democracy. Had three branches of government Ekklesia, Dikasteria, And Boule similar to today's three branches of government.sadly only male citizens could vote. This restrict the ability to vote to only 12% of their population. Almost everything was voted on from little trials like stealing a goat, to a big trail like a murder.

    The roman republic was from 509-27 BCE. The People elected two rulers one to rule the Government, and another to run the military. Had laws that protected all free citizens(adult male land owners). They had a system in place were they elected a Dictator in a time of crisis. But wealthy land owners had most of the power.

    An Oligarchy is a small group of people having control over a country or organization. You can see Oligarchy's around a lot in today's society. The White House is technically a Oligarchy. and organizations like the ASPCA is a Oligarchy. It started in the 4th century and is still around today.

    The Magna Carta was drafted by an archbishop and agreed to by King John. It promised protection of the Church rights, protection of illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments. Because neither side would agree to the terms this led to the first baron war, leading to John's death.

    Feudalism was the dominated social system in medieval Europe at one time. It entailed that Nobles would get land form the king in exchange for military services. While the peasants work for the nobles in exchange for housing, a share of the produce and labor/money.
