  • Birth

    Born on December 21, 1879. Born in Gori ,Gorgia with his very poor family. His birth name was Losif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili. He was the only surviving son.(Meyer 173)
  • The electric train

    They built the electric train because steam powered trains were to loud and caused too much pollution and horse pulled carriages could only hold so much. The first electric railway was built in Berlin, Germany. It carried 20 to 25 passengers.
  • Mark Twain and Huckleberry Finn

    It took him 7 years to write the book. The book is often banned for being racist. This book was one of the first american novels. Huckleberry Finn was based on Mark Twains childhood friend.
  • Eiffel Tower

    The Eiffel Tower was designed to commemorate the centennial of the french revolution and to demonstrate France's industrial prowess to the world. Usually credited with the design is Gustave Eiffel ,but Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier drew the original drawings. Not everyone was happy about the tower. It was used to intercept enemy massages during ww1.
  • Young Life

    Joseph joins the Social Democratic Labor Party. He worked full time for the revolutionary movement. He was arrested for coordinating a labor strike. He was exiled to Siberia. That was the first of many arrests for Joseph.
  • Creation of Mothers day

    Started in Virginia, Mothers Day was a day that people taught women how to properly take care of their children. Ann Reeves Jarvis made the holiday because she felt like all american holidays were biased towards male achievements. Soon after it became a national holiday the creator spends the rest of her life trying to remove it from the calendar. She did this because of how companies used the holiday to make money.
  • Rise in power

    In 1917 the Russian revolution started. The government was overthrown by the Bolsheviks and lenin. That changed Russia to the Soviet Union. Stalin then becomes a major leader in the government.

    Lenin died and stalin starts his plan. He gets rid of all the old party leaders. He removes others from power. Potential rivals were accused of aligning with capitalist nations and were excited or put in jail.

    He was the first to fly the atlantic alone. He was also paid 25,000 dollars as a prize for his accomplishment. It took him 33.5 hours to get from New York to Paris.

    Stalin created the five year plan. It creates many industries for future growth. The poor worked in factories and many starved to death. It lasts from 1928 to 1933.

    Stalin becomes general secretary of the communist party. By 1928 he was in total command of all the communist parties. He put many of his followers into key positions in the government. As a dictator, Stalin turned the Soviet Union into a totalitarian state.

    He strengthened the Soviet Union he industrialized it. He build many factories. Those factories would help in fighting the germans in World War 2. He moved the country away from agriculture and more words industries.
  • World War 2

    At the start off the war the Soviet Union sided with Hitler and the Germans. After hitler Attacks the Soviet Union, Stalin sides with Britain and the United States. Stalin sets up puppet governments in Eastern European countries that he had "saved" from german control. This ended up starting the Cold War.
  • Jackie Robinson

    He was the first African American to play in major league baseball. He won national league rookie of the year award in his first season. In 1962 he was inducted into the hall of fame. He inspired many African Americans.
  • While in power

    Stalin leeds the soviets into the nuclear age by exploding and atomic bomb. He gave North Korea permission to evade South Korea. South Korea was allied with America. That caused the Korean war.
  • Death

    In 1953 Stalin dies of a stroke. Rumors spread that he was poisoned . He was already in poor health. He died in Kuntsevo Dasha near Moscow, Russia.
