No one is winning the war until the 5 million americans joined the war. The germans felt defeated and felt it was suicide mission. At 5 am on nov 11, 1918 Germany cease fire. The word was just spreading people started killing without knowing Germany stopped fighting. 2,738 died the final day. Canada lost 66, 655 through out the whole war. -
archduke the heir to the Austro throne was assassinated by Serbian Terrorist Gavrilo Princip. July 29, Austro Hungary invaded Serbia. Russia and Austro Hungary both mobilized each other. After that Germany was at war with Russia, France, Britain, and Canada. Which made a group of countries that teamed up called Triple Entente(Great Britain, France, and Russia Empire) and a Triple Alliance(Germany, Austro Hungary, and Italy). Germany proceeded to invade Belgium.

In 1920 People in the us and canada started to borrow money from the bank and invested that money into stocks. The value of stocks started to increase it is also know as the bull market. A Lot of people kept investing in stocks until the great depression. Tuesday, october 1929 toronto, montreal and new york stocks exchange crashed. Companies dropped 50% of their value of shares and banks closed as well meaning they cant get their money they earned.

In february a building called reichstag was burned down and Hitler blamed the communists. This event made him have access to new emergency legislation
called, “The Enabling Act.” he suspended all activities in reichstag and banned political parties. When the president Hindenburg passed away. Hitler became a president and combined chancellor together. He remade Germany as a facist country and forced soldiers to make an oath to him. At the end of WW2 Germany lost and Hitler killed himself. -
Hitler became a dictator after the original president passed from aging and invaded poland. After when Germany invaded poland. Britain and France wanted Germany to withdraw or they would start a war. Germany refused and started WW2. after Germany lost and WW2 was over 3 million soldiers died that war.

The Cold war started in 1946 - 1989 both Russia and USA had a power struggle against its allies. This ends up having a military Competition by using bombs. An artificial satellite called a Sputnik was launched by Russia to shoot rockets from outer space. The USA and Canada the north American signed a treaty to detect and intercept Soviet Airplanes. the USSR could not afford because of the economic collapse. The people of Russia wanted more freedom, and crowded countries wanted more democracy.

August 31st, 1962 After ww2 the cold war started.Berlin still had communism some people didn't want communism and some people wanted communism. So they split Berlin in half by making a tall wall with barb wire on the top making it half communism and half democracy. which means people got separated from families. Some people died trying to escape the wall. When the cold war ended the Berlin wall was destroyed in nov 9, 1991.

Pierre trudeau is a french Canadian and was born in Montreal. He became the coolest prime minister because he got along with everybody and people saw him as a normal human being rather than a prime minister. He decriminalized homosexuality, liberalized divorced laws, legalized abortion, regulated guns and lotteries. There were some controversial things about him too. protesters do not agree with him and threw veges at the train where he was at. At the end he was a cheerful person
