The Freedmen's Bureau was established in 1865, the bureaus main policy was to aid those displaced by the war although it also set up southern public education, and supported freedom of African Americans and former slaves. To help African Americans the bureau, helped them get jobs, it resolved disputes between white people and black people, and it helped set up courts.
