  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act passes parliament. It is the first direct tax on the colonies. "It was a tax on all paper products (newspapers, alamanacs, licences, deeds, bonds, leases and pamphlets). All these were to bear Stamp showing that a tax on them had been paid. "
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act goes into effect in the colonies which requires residents to provide housing for British troops stationed in America.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress occurs in New York City. It includes representatives from Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and South Carolina. Petition against the Stamp Act are created to be delivered to King George III. And a boyctt of British goods is started throughout the colonies.

    Thee Boston Tea Party occurs. After months of growing anger against the Tea Act, a group of Boston activists dressed as Mohawk Indians, boarded British tea ships anchored in Boston Harbor in order to dump 342 casks of tea into the water.
