    New England Primer
    Written by Benjamin Harris before the year 1690, the New England Primer was a pioneer for colonial schools in America. In the book students could learn their letters and numbers through moral lessons. Primer was the foundation of our school textbooks for centuries to come.
  • National School Lunch Act

    National School Lunch Act
    National School Lunch act was created to offer meals at a reduced or free price to students from low income families. Through this act children from all incomes can be guaranteed at minimum one main meal a day at school. This act has benefited the classroom though providing food for the kids, in turn they will be able to focus on their schoolwork more than versus how hungry they might have been. It is still used today and many students benefit from its services offered.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
    In 1954 the case of Brown v. Board of Education was taken all the way to the Supreme Court and has had a huge impact on education ever since. The court ruled that the "separate but equal" schools were not granted equal privileges therefore allowing all schools offer education to any student regardless of race. This case impacts schools today by opening a door for equal opportunities for all kids regardless of race.

    In Watertown, Wisconsin Margarethe founded the first kindergarten classroom. She founded it because she believed students needed playtime in order to learn. Today, Kindergarten helps the first time students prepare for school by teaching them the basics of letters, numbers, colors and how to behave in school through a fun and hands on atmosphere. Children have the opportunity to explore through play the foundation of school and begin their own classroom career on the first day of kindergarten.
  • National Defense Act

    National Defense Act
    The Soviet Union launched the worlds first satellite (Sputnik) causing US to follow shortly after with a 1 billion dollar contribution to science and math education. STEM was created from this and helped unleash potential in male and female students across the nation. Science and math still play a huge role today in the classroom and with STEM and other programs funded from launching the satellite, students will be driven to succeed to their highest potential.
