    Larry P. v. Riles
    Larry filed a complaint arguing the biases of an IQ test given by psychologist.The California State Board used these test to determine academic placement.
    Larry's results indicated that he had mild mental retardation. The district found the test to be culturally biased and a violation of the 14th amendment.
    This case protected African Americans from being improperly placed and inadequately educated.

  • Honig v. Doe

    Honig v. Doe
    John Doe and Jack Smith filed a case against Honig for violating the EAHCA . They were suspended until the expulsion process was completed, which violated the "stay put" provision.
    Honig argued that the students should be removed from their class setting due to aggressive and disruptive behavior.

    Zobrest v. Catalina Foothill School District
    Zobrest attended a Roman Catholic school and was denied a sign language interpreter. His parents filed a suit.The school board believed it violated the 1st amendment establishment clause and the court denied it
    The case was appealed. Chief Justice Rehnquist ruled that there was no violation. The decision of the 9th circuit was reversed. This ruling allows government paid services for students that attend religiously affiliated schools.
