    The Peace Treaty of Versailles which was signed on the 28th June 1919 by Germany and the Allied powers at the Palace of Versailles. The Versailles Treaty was the peace settlement between Germany and the Allied Powers that officially ended World War I.

    On 19th February 1942, Australia came under attack for the first time when Japanese forces planned two air raids on Darwin. In the first attack, which began just before 10.00 am, heavy bombs dropped on the harbour and town. The raid killed an estimate of 243 people.

    On the 28th of August, 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The speech is extremely famous as it has been the most moving and motivational speech known as it was about expressing freedom for the African American community.

    The Freedom Rides of Australia was a group of 29 students from the University of Sydney who undertook a bus trip to a number of towns in New South Wales to investigate race relations in country towns and living conditions for Aboriginal people on reserves. The bus trip was known as the Freedom Ride.

    At 5 AM on the morning of November 11 an armistice was signed at a French forest near the front lines. The terms of the agreement called for the ending of fighting along the entire Western Front to begin at 11 AM that morning. After years of destructive conflict, the Great War was at the end.
