    I really don't know much about this event, but I do know it changed history in forever...in that it started to have a more definite role in schools and it became ever so important for students to study history.

    He was Russian...that's about all I know---oh, and it changed our world forever---thus, we get movies like "Gravity" with Sandra Bullock.

    The Russians were first in space, but we got to hand it to Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon!
  • Watergate

    Oh, it was a scandal, and made the first BIG time in history that reporters were crucial to keeping the honor of the President, or any important political figure.

    It has made teaching curriculum and having expectations very difficult for teachers (because NCLB implies that all students must work at the exact same level), although this may have not been the intended outcome.
