  • the boston massacre

    one of the people from the army shot a civilian so this created more tension between Britain bitches and the American colonies. Also, it created more revolts and protests. This is when Paul Revere started the Propaganda against the British.
  • boston tea party

    they put new tax on tea so they were angry so they got on the ships and dumped 342 whole crates of British tea into Boston harbor. This event was important because it showed the American colonies had grown tired of arbitrary taxation by the British
  • lexington

    Paul Revere was sent for by Dr. Joseph Warren and instructed to ride to Lexington, Massachusetts, to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were marching to arrest them.
  • battle of lexington and concord

    it was the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. It was the first time there was gun fire between the british troops and their colonists. It's called 'the shot heard around the world'. This now meant that they could no longer just work out the problems they have with the british.
  • "Common Sense" Published

    a man by the name of Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet entitled Common Sense, in which he outlined the reasons that he felt it was time for the colonies to part company with Great Britain, and form their own independent nation.

    The battle was fought between the Americans against the Hessians and British troops after the Americans lost the battle in New York and were forced to retreat through New Jersey
  • George Washington and His Troops Winter at Valley Forge

    george washignton leads his beleaguered troops into winter quarters at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania
  • treaty of alliance

    The Treaty of Alliance created a military alliance against Great Britain, stipulating American independence as a condition of peace. The treaty also required France and the U.S. to concur in any peace agreement.
  • the articles of confederation

    It forbade the creation of a federal tax. It allowed each state to adopt its own currency. It forbade the creation of a federal standing army or navy in times of peace. This agreement between the states would last until after the war, when it was determined that it needed to be replaced by a more thorough constitution that more clearly framed the Union

    The Battle of Yorktown was the last great battle of the American Revolutionary War. It is where the British Army surrendered and the British government began to consider a peace treaty.
