  • Horse Race

    Horse Race
    An English man by the name of Eadwaerd Muybridge bet some of his rich buddy pals $25,000 that a all four of a horse's legs could be off the ground at the same time. They then had a few pictures taken of a horse in a race while galloping. This gave birth to film.
  • Vaudevilles

    Vaudevilles
    The vaudevilles were birthed very early in the history of film/cinematography. They are a combination of theatre, song, comedy, & skit. They cost one nickel to get in to.
  • First Camera

    First Camera
    George eastman created the first Kodak camera. It was lightweight and inexpensive.
  • Kinetoscope Parlor

    Kinetoscope Parlor
    Thomas Edison created a method of showing moving pictures to one person at a time. He did this, just like many other things cough cough*lightbulb*cough cough to make large sums of money. He believed that one person seeing them at a time was a better money maker.
  • Cinematographe

    The Lumiere brothers did what Edison wouldn"t. They had showings of 20-60 second movies to grops in cafes or theatres. They cost one franc to get in and view. They were originally for the wealthy.
  • The Great Train Robbery

    The Great Train Robbery
    Edward Porter, an employee of Thomas "Moneybags" Edison, created the first narrative motion picture. It had 14 scenes and lasted 12 minutes, which was very long for the time.
  • Nickelodeons

    Nickelodeons
    Theatres opened up that showed shortfilms accompanied my piano music and sound effects. There were a few skits too. These evolved from vaudevilles, so these too cost 10 cents to view.
  • MPPC (Motion Picture Parent Company)

    Good ol' Moneybags makes this company to (guess what) get rich. WHO WOULD"VE GUESSED? He, along with other comapnies, would create films and not use the actor's names so they wouldn't get famous and demand more money. They would destroy the works of independent companies and studios.
  • HOLLYWOOD(LAND)

    HOLLYWOOD(LAND)
    Idependent film studios had had enough of MPPC and decide to go west. They went to LA because there was great clear weather and a quick escape to Mexico in case Moneybags Edison and his mobsters appeared. This is now the film capital of the world.
  • Warner Bros. established

    Warner Bros. established
    Warner Brothers is created in Hollywood, LA. They go on to create King Kong and Godzilla.
  • Color TV

    Color TV
    The first in-color tv broad cast occurs. This completely changes the television game.
  • Toy Story

    Toy Story
    Tom Hanks and Tim Allen's blockbuster animated movie Toy Story is created. It revolutionizes animated movies for many years. That is, until LET IT GO feat. Olaf and an evil prince is released.
