An English man by the name of Eadwaerd Muybridge bet some of his rich buddy pals $25,000 that a all four of a horse's legs could be off the ground at the same time. They then had a few pictures taken of a horse in a race while galloping. This gave birth to film.

The vaudevilles were birthed very early in the history of film/cinematography. They are a combination of theatre, song, comedy, & skit. They cost one nickel to get in to.

George eastman created the first Kodak camera. It was lightweight and inexpensive.

Thomas Edison created a method of showing moving pictures to one person at a time. He did this, just like many other things cough cough*lightbulb*cough cough to make large sums of money. He believed that one person seeing them at a time was a better money maker.

The Lumiere brothers did what Edison wouldn"t. They had showings of 20-60 second movies to grops in cafes or theatres. They cost one franc to get in and view. They were originally for the wealthy.

Edward Porter, an employee of Thomas "Moneybags" Edison, created the first narrative motion picture. It had 14 scenes and lasted 12 minutes, which was very long for the time.

Idependent film studios had had enough of MPPC and decide to go west. They went to LA because there was great clear weather and a quick escape to Mexico in case Moneybags Edison and his mobsters appeared. This is now the film capital of the world.
