Health 2:4 Formulating a Plan

  • Today- Make a goal for my happiness

"Dr Seligman’s definition has three facets. 1. The first part of happiness is defined by high emotions such as love, gratitude and joy. 2. The second aspect of happiness involves actions that seem to make time stand still. 3. The final component of happiness defined by Seligman is finding meaning in what is accomplished in life." (Health 12) Make a goal that will eventually satisfy these aspects of happiness.

My Goal- Have A Better Diet

I want to have a better diet by eliminating bad foods and adding good ones.
  • Take Inventory of How My Diet Has Been

"It has been said (falsely) that goals are dreams with a deadline. Goals should be seen more as the critical steps we take on the path to our dreams. The things we measure most often improve in our life, so we must set goals that are specific and measurable." (Health 13) Look back at what I've eaten and in what amounts over the last month, just to be aware of how much needs to change.
  • Drink Healthier (part 1)

Cut out pop from my diet 3/7 days a week and drink water instead
  • Try a Variety

Eat 5 different foods that you either hadn't tried before or didn't like before
  • Limit Sweet Snacks

  • Drink Healthier (part 2)

Cut out pop 5/7 days a week and drink water instead
  • Learn To Like a Variety

Try several new foods that are a healthier option than what I usually eat and find 5 new alternatives
  • Replace with Homemade

Offer to cook dinner more often instead of going to a restaurant, choosing options that are healthier and taste either the same or better.
  • Prepare for Sweets

Prepare for the sugar of Halloween by cutting down on how much sugar I eat before Halloween and giving away some of what I get.
  • Drink Healthier (part 3)

Bring a water bottle to school and drink from it throughout the day.
  • Find New Alternitives

Find healthier recipies for delicious foods for Christmas and stay out of the sweets by eating these instead
  • Catch-Up

Let's face it... This may be hard. Use this time to perfect those habits that take more than a month to master. Remember, "Setting goals can be a double-edged sword. It can drive purposeful action in our lives and allow us to achieve more over a shorter period of time. However, we need to be careful with ourselves because goals can also be a source of anxiety." (Health 13)
  • Evaluation

Reflect upon how the health changes I made affected my health and happiness and make a goal for next year (if needed)
