    Rockerfeller Foundation
Mexico established the rockefeller foundations with the goal of ending human poverty and hunger through the process of biotechnological research.
  • Disease Resistant Wheat Strains

    Disease Resistant Wheat Strains
Borlauge started to develop wheat strains in Mexico by breeding high-yeild disease-resistant strains of wheat. He combined Wheat varities with the new technological advances and produced up to six times more wheat then before. Because Mexico produced so much wheat, the country then became the main exporter of wheat and imported almost half of the wheat supply to around the world

  • India and Pakistan Famine

    India and Pakistan Famine
India and Pakistan were having a famine so they started to grow large portions of wheat. The wheat production in India and Pakistan tripled. They also developed high-yeild rice strains in the Philippines.Governments were forced to use a new type of disease-resisting wheat called the Dwarf Wheat. With the process of cross breading and new technology, Borlaug (and with the help of the newly established Rockefeller Foundation) cross bread Japanese dwarf wheat and the disease-resistin wheat to pro
  • Irrigation

    Irrigation
Irrigation played a large role in the spreading and growing of high-yield crops. For countries that got minimal amounts of rainfall growing crops was difficult and with the help of irrigation large quantities of water could be supplied to crops that would not have other wise been grown. This helped produce the high-yielding crops- high-yielding meaning only a few varities of one crop but a mass production of the few varities. It makes the crops a successful harvest index
  • CGIAR

    CGIAR
The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research was created and added many research centers throughout the world. It's main focus was on helping with reducing poverty and hunger, by improving human's heath and nutrition.
