Greek Creation Myth9

  • The Beggining

In the begging there was unexplainable chaos and darkness. The universe was all black, empty, silent, and endless.
  • The Birth

Born from chaos were NIght and Erebus. Erebus is the unfathomable depth where death dwells.
  • Love

Night laid an egg into Erebus dark and deep. Love hached from the egg, shining, and with wings of gold. Love replaced blind confusion with order and beauty. Love then created light with its companion, radient day.
  • Earth

Earth rose up inexplicably, only because it seemed natural with the coming of love and light. Earth chose the starry heaven to cover her on all sides and to forever be a home for the gods, who did not exist at the time.
  • Children of Mother Earth and Father heaven

Mother Earth(Gaea) and Father Heaven(Ouranos) created the first creatures to roam the earth. All creatures created were massive and had overwhelming strength of earthquakes, volcanos, and hurricanes. The first three monsters created had a hundred hands and fifty heads. The next three were named cyclops because of the one giant eye in the middle of their forehead. And lasty the Titans were created, the only ones to not be purely destructive.
  • Banishment of Monsters

Father Heaven imprisoned his sons with a hundred hands and fifty heads into a secret place within the Earth because he hated them so much. He left the Cyclops and Titans to roam free.
  • Mother Earth's revenge

Mother Earth was angry with Father Heaven for imprisoning some of her sons. She looked to her other sons to help get her imprisoned sons back. Cronus (a Titan) was the only one bold enough to help his mother.
  • Cronus the Brave

Cronus struck his father and wounded him badly. From the blood of his father the fourth race of creatures rose up, The Giants. Also from the blood rose the Erinyes, who were the punishers of sin. He never freed his brothers.
  • Lord of the Universe

After the strike on Father Heaven, Cronus ruled the universe for eons with his sister/queen Rhea. Cronus learned that one of his future children will one day dethrone him, so he swollowed all his children to try and go against fate.
  • The Rock Baby

Cronus's last child, Zeus was secretly hidden from him by Rhea. She gave Cronus a rock covered in cloth which he swollowed thinking it was Zeus. When Zeus was grown he, with the help of Mother Earth, made Cronus spit out his other brothers and sisters.
  • The War of the Universe

After Zeus gained back his brothers and sisters there was a war between the Titans and the Gods (Zeus and his siblings). The war almost wrecked the universe. Zeus relased the imprisoned monsters within the earth to help him defeat the Titans. Also a son of a Titan, Prometheus who was very wise, sided with Zeus to help him win the war.
  • Strenght of the Gods

After the Gods won the war Mother Earth gave birth to her last monster, who's name was Typhon. Zeus struck him down with the tunder and lightning he now had under his control. There was one more attmept after Typhon to over throw the Gods, and that was when the Giants rebelled. The Giants were defeated and sent to Tartarus.
  • Man of afterthought

Epimetheus(Afterthought), and his brother Prometheus (the one who sided with Zeus in the great war), were chosen to create man. Epimetheus not thinking gave all good gifts to the animals on earth and left nothing for mankind. He then asked his brother for help to fix his wrong doings. Prometheus thought of a way to make mankind unique. He gave us the ability to walk upright, like the Gods. He also went to the sun where he lit a torch and gave it to mankind for protection.
  • Beautiful Disaster

Zeus became angry with Prometheus for caring so much for men. He created a great evil to men, a women named Pandora; which means the gift of all. Zeus created Pandora with a great deal of curiosity, and then gave her a box with great misfortune inside and forbade her to ever open it. Then they sent her to Epimetheus who gladly took her.
  • Hope lives on

Pandora with her curiosity had to know what was in the box. She lifted the lid and plagues, sorrow and mischief flew out for mankind. She closed the lid in time to hold on thing in the box, hope, the only good inside the box. Hope is mankinds comfort in misfortune.
