    Scientists, philosophers, and thinkers become inspired by recent discoveries and start research into many different fields such as science, math, and politics. All study was led by the belief that all answers could be discovered by reason. Of course it didn't begin in this exact date but around this time.

    The Spirit of the Laws- Montesquieu
    In 1748, Baron de Montsquieu wrote a book in which he tried to show the best and most effective government based on observations of the existing governments around the world. He beloved because of the three branch system that Britain how the closest government to what he believed was the best. This book will greatly inspire American leaders as we'll in the coming revolution.
  • The Encyclopedia

    The Encyclopedia
    Written and edited by Denis Diderot and his associate, Jean d' alembert, this book contains the writings of many philosophers critiquing almost every slightly controversial topic. The complete set held 28 full volumes. Of course anyone with authority was frightened by these writings because it rethought everything they did. These books were written in a span from 1751- 1772 so I will put the beginning date.

  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This act or law put a tax on anything paper. The reason this is significant was that the people that used paper the most were the leaders, lawyers, and philosophers. This basically threatened all the people with power in America which was a huge mistake. Boycotting and riots broke out. This really unified all the colonies.

    In one of the first acts as a "unified country" The colonies all met in Philedelphia. They fought for the colonists rights and if this led to a war all the colonies would support each other.
  • The Battle of Lexington

    The Battle of Lexington
    The first battle between British troops and armed revolutionaries. The shot heard round the world was fired but no one knows who fired the first shot
  • The Declaration Of Independence

    The Declaration Of Independence
    After the first fights broke out the Continental Congress met for a second time this time focusing on the revolution itself. They declared the thirteen colonies the UNITED STATES OF 'MERICA . It wrote that all the citizens have the rights and the government is more influenced by the people which really was revolutionary.

    The Seige of Yorktown
    A combined attack of the French and new American troops trapped the British troops in Yorktown against the York River. The siege lasted from September 28 to October 19. Then the British Forces surrendered in the last major battle of the revolution.

    The National Assembly
    Because of the nations economy problems and unrest, King Louis XIV called to meet the Estates General which was a large meeting of the representatives from the rich, poor, and royal parties. The royal and rich voted together on everything which made this meeting extremely unfair. When the Third Estate (the poor) failed to comply to an instruction the King locked them out of the meeting. The Third Estate met in an indoor Tennis court and declared themselves a government called the National Assemb

    Bastille Day
    In Response to the National Assembly's creation, King Louis ordered troops to possibly take out the National Assembly. In order to protect the assembly and create an army, revolutionaries attacked the Bastille which was a massive prison of torture. They took the Bastille on July 14, 1789 which is still celebrated as the beginning of the French Revolution.

    After the overthrowing of the King, the National Assembly wrote a constitution creating a government similar to that of America and Great Britain. The government include the three branches of government and a king with limited power. It was not yet a republic but they started slowly. The King agreed but secretly led others to overthrow the new leaders.

    The British Government only allowed the East India trading Company to transport tea to the Americas. In protest a group known as the Sons of liberty and other Patriots boarded ships and threw the tea crates into the harbor. Even though they were disguised as Native Americans everyone knew who they were.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    The laws were passed to punish the colonists of Boston because of the Boston Tea Party. The first made use of Boston Harbor unusable. The second made Massachusetts under the complete control of the King. The third let all British Royalist accused of a crime (a crime against patriots) basically escape punishment. The fourth forced the colonists to house British soldiers. This outraged all of the Americans!
