    Magna Carta

    In 1215 King John was removed because nobles were upset that he wasn’t a just ruler and believed the Magna Carta did not establish a permanent government
  • Migrating to North America

    During the 1600s people began migrating from the eastern ide of the world to the western side
  • Americas First Formal Constitution

    Colonists in Connecticut drew up America’s first formal constitution, or charter
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Parliment passed a Bill of Rights which clearly outlined limits on the monarchy
  • Stamp Act

    Great Britain past multiple acts that strained their relationship with the American Colonies, one of the bigger ones being the stamp act.
  • First Continental Congress

    Delegates from every colony except Georgia met in Philadelphia for the First Continental Congress. Their purpose was to decide what to do about the relationship with Great Britain.
  • States finalize their individual Constitutions

    By the end of 1776 all of the colonies had at least their own Constitution or form of governing
  • The Decleration of Independence

    The final draft for the Decleration of Independence was finished and 56 delegates signed. The document adopted some of the ideas from early Great Britain such as the Magna Carta to form their idea of government which would declare them independent from great Britian
