The date is not exact but on this day a car bomb explodes. The bomb explodes right outside of a building Ryan is stationed at ,but he doesn't hear it go off.

Ryan gets a letter from his dad explaining some tough times. Ryan also says how he writes in all capital letters because of his dad.

On this day, Ryan's dad puts their dog, Haley, to sleep. He talks about how much he loved the dog , and also how his father cried all the way back after putting her to sleep.

It's Jim conklin's Funeral and Ryan cries at it. It's also an eye opening expirience for him as he realizes the true effects of war.

Today is the day that Ryan goes back to New York on his anniversary with Heather. When he gets there he is reminded by Heather that it's their anniversary and she also shows him what soldiers in Iraq can't do for him.
