  • Nazi Party was formed

    The Nazi Party, short for National Socialist Geman Workers' Party, was created in Munich Germany. Along with the party came strong feelings of anti-semitism, German pride and dissatisfaction of towards the Treaty of Versailles
  • Hitler came to power

    After months of negotiation, Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany, which then allowed him to gain power and overthrow the government and at the same time gain the people's support
  • Hitler gave final orders to invade Poland

    Hitler invaded Poland against the Treaty of Versailles's rules
  • Bombing of Warsaw

    Luftwaffe unit heavily bombed Warsaw and destroyed about 84% of the city
  • Sinking of Athenia

    Athenia was a British transatlantic passenger liner that was destroyed by a German U-boat. Killing 112 people, 28 of who were American.
  • South Africa declares war on Germany

    After Germany invades Poland, Britain declares war on Germany and two ays after that, the government of South Africa supports them.
  • Graf Spee

    The Graf Spee was a "pocket battleshipe" as nicknamed by the British. She sunk 5 ships, the first one being a British freighter in the South Atlantic, the other 4 being allied merchant vessels
  • German plane accidently lands in Belgium

    A German plane, carrying two German officers who held the plans for invasion of western Europe (which was scheduled for Jan. 17) accidently landed in Belgium,forcing Hitler to push back invasion dates.
  • A loss for Germany

    Norwegian coastal guns sink German cruiser Blucher, killling 1,600 people
  • Rotterdam bombing or the Rotterdam Blitz

    Heavy bombing occured in Rotterdam. The Gerans wanted to support the troops fighting there, destroy Dutch resistance and force them to surrender, and they did.
  • Battle of Dunkirk

    Germany did win this battle, but the British were able to evacuate over 300,000 allied soldiers. The Luftwaffe unit was also emplyed here, shelling the city and killing about 1,000 civilians. In the end ,though, the victory was rather an allied one since they were able to evacuate so many soldiers
  • German destroys Bodo

    The city in Norway, called Bodo, was destroyed bt German warplanes. Over 3,500 people lost their homes, and only 15 were killed.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Hitler invades Russia, taking over crops and towns along the way. They failed because you don't attck Russia during winter! Unless you're the Mongols.
  • D-Day

    German soldiers had invaded Northwestern France and occupied it starting in May 1940. Eventually allied troops enter Normandy to fight off German soldiers who were waiting for them.
  • Hitler commits suicide

    Hitler takes his own life because he's afraid of being captured by the soviets and he'd rather die than be tortured by them.
