    George Halas was born on February 2nd, 1895 in the suburbs of Chicago. He is later nicknamed "Papa Bear" and "Mr. Everything" because of his involvement with the NFL and the Chicago Bears which lead him to become to winningest coach in Bears history ("Hall of Famers / GEORGE HALAS.").

    George Halas meet in Canton, Ohio with other owners of professional football teams and formed the American Professional Football Association which is later named to the National Football League (Lutes). George Halas is one of the founders of modern football because of his leadership and dedication to the sport and its formation. Halas guided the NFL during its formative years in the right direction and he put the NFL a path to become the greatest professional league in the world.

    Halas founds the Decatur Staleys which is named after the A.E. Staley Company which funded the team in the early years of their formation (Staley). Halas later moved the team to Chicago in 1921 and changed the name of the team to the Bears in honor of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley field where the bears played their games for the majority of their early existence (Lutes).

    In 1921, George Halas and the Chicago Staleys win the AFPA Championship which is later named to the NFL Championship (1920 - 1921, The Staley Football Club.). This is George Halas's first championship as a coach and as a player and at the time it foreshadowed a very bright future for the Chicago Bears with George Halas at the helm.

    The Chicago Bears and George Halas defeated the Washington Redskins 73-0 in the NFL Championship game in 1940. The game today still stands as the largest margins of victory for any team in the NFL (Barber). This win for Halas proved to be one of the most publicized wins in NFL history.

    George Halas wins his final NFL championship in 1963 for the Chicago Bears (Caladiscafrosis). George Halas would later retire from football, but his legacy as one of the greatest coaches in professional sports has ever seen will not be forgotten.

    George Halas died Oct. 31, 1983 and during the 1984 season the Chicago Bears put the initials GSH on their sleeves and it is still on the Bears uniform today ("Hall of Famers..."). George Halas proved through his involvement with the Bears and the NFL that he was truly one of the founders of football and that George Halas was arguably one of the best things ever to happen to football. George Halas also proved he was one of the most caring and dedicated individuals the NFL has ever seen (Noble).
